Biography
Gabriele Ricci studied at the “Francesco Morlacchi” Conservatory in Perugia, where he earned a diploma in French Horn in 2012 under the guidance of Maestro M. Venturi.
In 2019, he earned a Master’s Degree in French Horn at the “Rinaldo Franci” Institute of Advanced Studies in Siena, studying with Maestro G. Falcioni and graduating with top marks and honors.
Alongside his musical career, he also pursued an academic path, graduating in Biotechnology from the University of Perugia.
He perfected his skills by attending courses and masterclasses with Maestros A. Albori, A. Allegrini, R. Baborak, M. Bartoletti, S. Dohr, G. Falcioni, Z. Macsai, M. Maskuniitty, M. Venturi, R. Vlatkovic, G. Pellarin, and J. Williams.
He has collaborated with various orchestras and musical institutions, including: Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice di Venezia; Orchestra del Teatro Regio di Torino; Camerata Bern; Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia (tutor in the Education sector); Orchestra della Toscana; Orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna; Camerata Strumentale “Città di Prato”; Accademia Chigiana; Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana; Macerata Opera Festival; Teatro Lirico Sperimentale “A. Belli” di Spoleto; and Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese.
He has worked under the guidance of important conductors such as Z. Mehta, D. Gatti, D. Rustioni, T. Dausgaard, and others.
Winner of the audition for Second and Fourth Horn at the Orchestra della Toscana in 2024, he was also deemed suitable at the Teatro Regio in Turin (2023) for the position of Fourth Horn with the obligation of Second and subsequent parts, and at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari (2022) for the position of Second Horn with the obligation of Fourth and section duties.
Gabriele Ricci is a permanent member and artistic director of the brass quintet “Billi Brass Quintet,” with which he has performed at major festivals in Italy and abroad, including the Stresa Festival; Prix Italia 2018 (a concert broadcast by Rai Radio Classica); the Festival dei 2 Mondi in Spoleto; the Festival delle Nazioni; the Chigiana International Festival; the International Puppet Festival in Varna (Bulgaria); Balade Cévenole avec Maurice André (France); and others.
With the Billi Brass Quintet, he won first prize at the International “Young Instrumentalists” Competition in Treviso; participated in the final phase of the 2019 “Philip Jones International Brass Ensemble Competition” at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester (UK); and recorded for the “Amadeus Arte” label.
Since 2022, he has been the principal Horn teacher at the “Don Milani” Comprehensive Institute in Florence.
