Biography
Julianna Agócs is a Hungarian folk singer, for whom a love of traditional culture and its active practice has been a defining part of life since early childhood. She frequently accompanied her father, an ethnomusicologist, on his field-collection trips, where she learned folk music firsthand from tradition-bearing master musicians.
She completed her secondary studies in the music program of the Városmajor Secondary School in Budapest, after which she was admitted to the internationally acclaimed Angelica Girls’ Choir, recipient of the Hungarian Heritage Award and the Junior Prima Prize. She remains an active member and soloist of the choir to this day. In recent years, they have performed at prestigious venues including Notre-Dame Cathedral, St. Peter's Basilica, and the Ravenna Festival, and are regular guests in Hungary’s leading concert halls.
As a folk singer, she frequently performs with the award-winning Fonó Zenekar (recipient of the Choc de l’Année and eMeRTon awards). Together they have appeared at major concert venues throughout Hungary and on numerous European stages, as well as at Expo 2020 Dubai.
