Biography
Dancer / Classical Pilates instructor / Alexander Technique teacher trainee

As the founder of Wellness Genesis Pilates in Long Island City, New York, his practice resides at the intersection of structure and sensitivity. Technique is clarity. Breath is space. Awareness is the translation of effort into ease. In his practice, lessons are a dialogue. Breath and structure intersect. Habit and choice meet.

His earliest education occurred in nature, in the Taiwanese countryside, amidst vineyards and open fields where space itself became a teacher. It was there that the body was not yet something to be corrected or perfected but something to be inhabited. Although he would eventually study English literature at National Taiwan University, another language continued to emerge through him. It was a language of gesture, rhythm, tension, suspension, and release. Gymnastics, swimming, acting, and dance became the lexicon of this language.

His studies in Iceland expanded his horizons. His training at Taipei National University of the Arts honed his craft. A Fulbright award sent him to New York City, where intensive study at the Joffrey Ballet School and the Gelsey Kirkland Ballet Academy, as well as performances at the Metropolitan Opera House with American Ballet Theatre, expanded his understanding of precision and artistry. It was during this time that Pilates and the Alexander Technique demonstrated themselves to be more than exercise systems. They became a means to recovery, resilience, and intelligent movement. It was through them that he overcame chronic back pain and transformed strength from force to response.

Eric’s teaching is the result of this lived transformation. Eric is certified in Classical Pilates, personal training, corrective exercise, nutrition, and flexibility. He combines science and art without dividing the two. However, certification is merely the structure. Eric’s true teaching is leading people back into relationship with their own bodies.

Mindset, breath, and technique are intertwined in Eric’s practice. The goal is not perfection. It is presence. Not rigidity, but fluidity. Not control, but coordination. From this comes a quiet confidence that translates from the studio into art, work, and life.

Eric speaks English and Mandarin Chinese. He provides spaces that listen and include. Eric continues to learn, move, and hone his craft, based on a simple belief. Within the body lies discipline and poetry. Through mindful movement, we learn to live with both.
