Gerrit Glaner was the Head of Concert & Artist Department at Steinway & Sons for over two decades and expanded the company's artistic activities sustainably through international cooperation and networking. He was Steinway's representative at international concerts, conferences and competitions.

He has always paid particular attention to the promotion and appreciation of the younger generation. In this context, he conceived projects such as the Steinway Prizewinner Concerts Network, Steinway's Lunch Concerts and, together with the Concorso Busoni, the Glocal Piano Project, which played a pioneering role in the digital implementation of piano competitions on the Internet.

Previously, he made film documentaries and live productions for music television. At EMI Classics and Universal Music, he was producer of recordings and special editions and cooperated with the media industry.

From 1987 to 1990, he set up the master classes at the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival.

During his time as a musicology student, he was an author of program notes for the NDR Symphony Orchestra (now the Elbphilharmonie Orchestra). He greatly values his former job as a bartender at the legendary Hamburg jazz club "Birdland", which brought him many encounters with jazz luminaries.

Gerrit Glaner is in contact with artists of all genres. His experience flows into coachings, panel discussions and press articles as well as on juries of music competitions, cultural committees and a lectureship.

Since 2024, he is president of the internationally renowned Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker, Germany’s first chamber music festival after the war.

He sings in the Hamburg Symphonic Choir and is a clarinettist in the orchestra The Management Symphony.
